Adult. Prerequisite: Woodworking with Hand Tools Beginning or instructor approval. This 10 week course has intentionally small class sizes to ensure that proper attention will be given to each student. Through demonstrations and practice, this class will give you the necessary skills and experience to allow you to build more advanced projects. We will increase your experience, using saws, chisels, hand planes, and other specialty hand tools, jigs and fixtures.

We will demonstrate additional techniques for more accurate hand tool work. We’re excited to share the joy of creating usable wooden heirlooms and foster a love of working with your hands and simple tools in a functional way.
This semester's class will be a special joinery exercise “window” instead of a project. This exercise contains 7 different types of joints. It is intended to help train students in different joinery techniques. Students are not expected to be able to complete all the joinery exercises. Rather we’ll focus on layout and accurate cutting. This is a great introduction to more advanced hand tools work.
There will be a $15 lab fee to cover the cost of the wood. All required tools will be provided! However, if the student would like to provide some of their own tools here is a suggested list:
-6” 4R ruler (Imperial/inches) such as the Shinwa brand -3 good quality chisels in 1/4, 3/8 and 3/4 sizes. A suggested brand is the Narex Richter brand -A woodworking marking knife. A suggested brand is the Lee Valley plastic handle model -A 4” square. A suggested brand is the iGaging 4" Precision Double Square -A low angle block plane -A joinery back saw such as a dovetail saw.
Last day to register will be Wednesday, April 10th. Instructor: Aaron Landy. 10 classes.
