Ages: 18 - Adult. Workshop + Ticket. Choreographer and artist Caleb Teicher explores the Lindy Hop in their dynamic new show, SW!NG OUT. Learn about Lindy Hop, a Black social dance that grew out of jazz, tap, and Charleston to become the hottest dance of the Swing Era. This workshop will get you up on your feet and moving to the sounds of big band music. Registration includes a workshop led by locally-based content expert, a ticket to the performance (please note, performance is on a different day/time/location than workshop: SW!NG OUT performance is on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 8pm at Power Center), and light snacks. UMS requires all attendees to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test for the workshop and the performance (please bring a hard copy or have viewable on your phone). Masks are required indoors. If you already have a ticket and would like to register for just the workshop please register for 1776.202. Scholarship recipients pay $35, senior discount recipients pay $41.25. Registration closes 3/24 if you are registering for the workshop and ticket. Each workshop is tailored with audience members in mind and ideal for individuals seeking to familiarize themselves with or deepen their understanding of the presented art genre and performing artist. Facilitated by professional, community-based practicing artists/educators, UMS 101 workshops offer background and contextual learning, live demonstrations, and participatory activities in a fun, casual environment. Participants can register for both the workshop plus a performance ticket, or for the workshop only (Sorry, no ticket exchanges or refunds for previously purchased tickets.)
