Description
Mug Making Madness 2-Week Class: Intermediate Level
Are you excited to make your own mug but haven't quite mastered making handles yet?
This 2 day crash course focuses on crafting the beloved mug form. With discussions on form and function, students will spend the first day of class throwing various cup shapes on the wheel. The instructor will demonstrate how to alter shapes using various pottery ribs to explore beyond the basic cylinder form. The second day of this class focuses on the technical skill of pulling handles and how to securely attach them. Time will spent practicing pulling handls as well as alternative handle options.
Students are encouraged to bring their own mug forms to class if they have work they would like help trouble shooting or adding handbles to. This is a great opportunity to brainstorm with the instructor and get feedback on the mugs you are working on.
Students are welcome to keep up to 6 mugs and have the option to take home their work as fired bisqueware or choose to have their mugs glazed by the instructor. (Students will be notified via email when work is ready for pickup, with a wait time of about 6 weeks.)
This class is great for those who are comfortable throwing on the wheel and are wanting to take the next step.
