About this event
Instructor: Frank Shutts Are you an actor or lover of theater who suffers from ”Shakesfear” ? The insurmountable terror that you will never “get” or enjoy Shakespeare? If so, this brand new adult class is for you. Designed to acclimate theater goers and actors to the wonderful world of Shakespeare without having to write a paper. Over the course of 10 weeks, this class meets every other Sunday to look at the man, his world, his words, and his works. Week 1: The Greatness of Shakespeare; Week 2: Tragedies and Othello; Week 3: Histories and Henry V; Week 4 Comedies and Much Ado About Nothing; and Week 5; Problem Plays and Measure for Measure. Students will use the off weeks to watch and/or read the assigned plays. This is a fun, hands-on approach to the world’s greatest playwright. So, put your Shakesfear to rest and learn to love Shakespeare! Millions do! Shakespeare wrote to be seen and enjoyed! You will learn about his language, why he wrote the way he wrote, and how his words are still in use today. Frank D. Shutts II, a Dramatic literature major, has taught Acting Shakespeare, lead Shakespeare tours to Stratford Upon Avon and London’s rebuilt Globe, served as a guest lecturer for the Smithsonian Associates, and has directed several local productions of Shakespeare’s works. Classes are on: Feb 25, Mar 10 & 24, and Apr 7 & 21
