Instructor: Ruben Vellekoop How can Lorraine Hansberry make a silence shout? Why is Annie Baker so specific in the length of her pauses? And what exactly is a Pinter Pause? In this acting class, theatermakers will study beats, pauses, and silences to explore the work between the text. In-class work may include improv exercises, lectures, and scene study. Some reading and rehearsal outside of class is expected. NO CLASS March 31. Before our first class, students are encouraged to read a full-length play by Lorraine Hansberry, Harold Pinter, Annie Baker, or Suzan-Lori Parks, then pick a monologue of up to 1 minute with a pause or silence. Monologues will also be made available by the instructor.
