About this event
---Instructor: Christion Ty Edwards--- In the early 1980s, Playwright and Director David Mamet and the great actor William H. Macy became dissatisfied with the trends of modern "Method Acting." So, they set out to create their own approach to acting, which they said is "A series of purposeful actions..." This became the core tenet of the system we know today as "Practical Aesthetics." Crafted by Mamet, Macy, and their colleagues at the Atlantic Theatre Company, PA has served as a strong, simple, and effective approach for actors in their work. We will explore the technique of Practical Aesthetics and its applications to character, the text, and life on stage. Students will walk away with a repertoire of tools to always root their performances in purposeful action. *This class will predominantly focus on the preparation of scenes. Outside rehearsal will be essential for success and growth.
