Learn to Sail is a two-day weekend class. This class is a hands-on, adventurous introduction to dinghy sailing. Over one weekend, small classes of up to six students per instructor learn the basics—tacking, jibing, launching, landing, wind awareness, capsize prevention, and safety on the water—while getting plenty of time sailing in CFJs, Lasers, or RS Fevas. We typically have three or four sailboats plus a safety boat, so everyone gets personal attention while learning and practicing skills. Students stay active—moving around the boat, practicing land drills, and helping launch and retrieve boats—all under the guidance of experienced instructors. By the end of the weekend, participants gain confidence, skills, and a taste of the freedom and excitement of sailing on the SF Bay, and are ready to continue exploring with ACSC’s Open Sail Saturdays and Sunday Funday Adventures.
