About this event
In this fun 5-day camp we'll teach bike control with smooth start and stops, riding with one hand to signal, riding a straight line and be able to look behind them in fun games and challenges. We'll introduce bike riding rights and laws and traffic awareness of where to look for car drivers and what to expect when drivers don't follow the laws. (ex. drivers rolling through stop signs when kids are walking or biking from the sidewalk). **Kids must be able to ride on two wheels and pedal the bike without assistance. Camps build on skills. Skipping days is discouraged. Kids will be treated to riding on beautiful paths along the boat marina, slow streets, Jean Sweeney Park to Alameda Cross trail protected lanes and on Alameda Point. We meet at Bohol Circle Park on 5th Street in Alameda on the first day. Pick up everyday is Jean Sweeney parking lot and drop off the other days at Jean Sweeney parking lot. Bikes and helmets need to be brought to Cycle City or Westside Joe's with the camper to be sized, safety checked and appointment made for bike maintenance if needed. KIDS WON'T BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE WITHOUT PROPERLY FITTING AND FUNCTIONING BIKES. Kids bring their own water, snacks, lunch hand sanitizer, sunblock and spare bike tube. Heavy rain, wind or unsafe air quality cancels with refund.
