About this event
Instructor: Dr. Allison Hamilton has worked on national and local elections and has taught political science courses for over 25 years. She is currently the executive director of Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness in Aiken, SC, and teaches political science for Middle Georgia State University. Dr. Hamilton has a doctorate in Political Science from the University of Iowa. Description: The United States Congress is the most disliked branch of government, but people don’t understand why that is the case. This course will investigate what Congress is constitutionally supposed to do, what it has delegated over the decades, and why it is frequently unable to operate as expected today. Course topics will include Constitutional requirements, congressional districting, types of representation, and how Congress functions to pass a bill. Current and historical events will be used as examples throughout the course.
