Michael Durkee is a retired senior US Foreign Service Officer with 11 years’ experience as a senior advisor assigned to NATO headquarters in Europe. Description: This course traces NATO from its 1949 origin to the present day. As a creation of the Cold War era, it has been adapted to address international security challenges since the end of the Soviet Union. We’ll also consider basic elements of NATO and specific NATO military operations in Europe and Afghanistan.
