About this event
Have you ever wanted to know what wild edibles you could find when many of the plants are dying back, losing their leaves and setting their seed? Winter may seem like a time of scarcity, but it can actually be a season of great abundance. In this workshop, we explore the theme of food as medicine through hands-on harvesting, cooking, and shared meals. We will focus on roots, inner barks, evergreens, and other food and medicine plants that are available in winter- a time not often recognized for its foraging potential. Join us for a rewarding day of gathering nourishment from the land and finishing with a feast prepared from our harvest. We’ll gather around a large fire to stay warm while making teas and cooking our wild food harvest. Dishes often prepared during this workshop include inner pine bark chips, sautéed wild roots, and an all-time favorite: traditional stone soup, rock-boiled inside a pumpkin—a winter classic. Come share good food, warmth, and community as we celebrate the abundance of the winter season
