Aquatics Spring Fest Hoop 2024: Adult 3-on-3 Tournament Rules & Regulations
Rules:
1. Coin flip to start the game.
2. All games to 15 points or high score after 12 minutes, whichever comes first.
3. Baskets made in front of the 3-point arc are worth 1 point and baskets made from behind the 3-point arc are worth 2 points.
4. After a made basket, the team that was on defense receives the next possession.
5. Running game clock. Clock will only stop during free throws and timeouts.
During the final minute of the game the clock will stop on all dead balls if score is within 6 points or less.
6. One 30 second time-out per game for each team.
7. Checking the ball – Before the ball can be put into play, the ball must be “checked in” by an opposing player:
a) After the ball is checked, the offensive player must pass the ball to a teammate to put the ball in play
b) There will be a five second count for the offense to put the ball in play
8. Clearing the ball – On each change of possession the ball must be taken back behind the 3-point line.
a) Player must establish position with at least one foot and the ball behind the 3-point line.
9. Play will be reset at the top of the key after all dead balls.
10. Fouls will be called by a referee. A defensive foul on a made basket shall result in the basket counting and the team that was on defense starting with the ball at the top of the key. A shooting foul, or a foul resulting in a missed shot, shall result in the offensive player shooting one free throw if in front of 3-point arc and two free throws if behind 3-point arc.
a) No player fouls, all fouls are team fouls. 5 teams fouls = bonus one free throw, 7 fouls = double bonus 1 free throw and ball out.
b. *Intentional defensive fouls (no play on the ball) will result in a free throw + possession for the offense.
c. *The referees may call a flagrant foul or technical foul as they see fit. Flagrant and technical fouls will result in one free throw and possession of the ball.
11. Jump balls will be awarded on an alternating basis.
12. The half-court line is considered out-of-bounds.
13. Overtime – First team to score 3-points will be declared the winner. The game clock will be turned off, but the shot clock is still in effect. First possession in overtime will be determined by a coin flip. Each team will receive one 30 second times out for overtime. Any unused timeouts from regulation will not carry over to overtime.
14. Tie breakers: 1) head-to-head 2) point differential 3) points against 4) coin flip
