TEEN Sculpture: Soapstone Carvingw/ Piera RaffaeleAge: 12+4:30pm - 6:00pmThe world of stone carving is at your fingertips! Have fun learning to carve stone using traditional hand and power tools. Step-by-step instruction is given in basic stone carving techniques. Students learn to use a hammer, chisel, and files to create a 3-Dimensional sculpture. Various types of materials are introduced throughout the class - soapstone, alabaster, aerated concrete and air-dry clay.
Students enjoy camaraderie and working with others, as they watch and adapt new ideas and techniques; enhancing their knowledge, experience, and understanding of sculpting with stone.
All tools and materials are included. Safety glasses will be provided.
This class is an 6-week, after-school 1.5 hour class.
