Description
Metal Clay Madnessw/Chris DarwaySix (6) Tuesdays1:00 pm - 4:00 pmNo class on 5/7Metal clay is an art product made from very fine powdered metal mixed with a non-toxic binder and water. Its consistency is like ceramic porcelain clay. You work it wet or dry. When dried it can be filed and sanded. After drying, the work is fired in a kiln to produce a solid piece of silver. Heat resistant stones can be fired in place. We will be using “Art Clay” brand from Japan. This 6-week studio class will cover the history of metal clay, different clay brands and formulas, tools, wet and dry work, silicon rubber mold making, stone setting technique, metal clay paste with glass, kiln firing temperatures and reconstituting dried metal clay. Join us in March to experience this unique material and make several pieces of precious metal jewelry.
