Explore the wonders of the Sonoran Desert while you hone your skills on the varied terrain of one of Pima County’s beautiful desert trails. Trail running offers a wonderful opportunity to explore and connect with the natural world, while providing a fun and engaging way to get a great work out.
Participants should be comfortable running 4-6 miles on flat terrain. Elevation change is moderate, and distances are generally 4-6 miles.
Cienega Creek Natural Preserve at Gabe Zimmerman Davidson Canyon Trailhead, 16000 E. Marsh Station Road 85641
From I-10 take exit 281- Sonoita/Patagonia to Marsh Station Road. Travel northeast on Marsh Station Road approximately 3 miles and watch for the Gabe Zimmerman Davidson Canyon Trailhead sign on the right. If you get to the large colorful Cienega Creek sign on the left side of the road, you have gone too far. Turn around and go back down the road to the trailhead parking area. There are restrooms but there is no water available at this trailhead. Group meets at the ramada in the parking lot.
Please bring water and sun protection and wear clothing and close-toed shoes that you will be comfortable running in.
