While all gender-queer and non-binary folx are welcome at any Hammerstone course, this session is intended to create a safe space specifically for gender-queer and non-binary people to learn new skills in community. Please only register for this course if you identify as gender-queer/non-binary. 2-day basic skills workshops introduce students to basic carpentry concepts of layout, cutting, and fastening, while building a pair of sawhorses that students will take home after the class. The skills learned in this class form a foundation for both rough carpentry and more detailed finish work. After this class, students will be able to safely use a range of hand and power tools and will understand the fundamentals of construction. This class can be taken as a stand-alone class, or as a pre-requisite for any of the other longer project-based classes. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission http://www.hammerstoneschool.com
