Description
Join an exciting birding trip with BOGS and Willamalane along the Central Oregon Coast in May! You will see migratory shorebirds, residents, breeding birds, and stunning coastal landscapes. Start at the Marina in Oldtown Florence, birdwatching along the Siuslaw River, then visit the jetties for more bird sightings and wildlife encounters, weather permitting. On your journey from Florence to Smelt Sands Park near Yachats, we'll make strategic stops at pullouts, scenic vistas, and rest/picnic spots to maximize our chances of spotting various bird species. Watch for Mother Gray Whales and their calves along the rocky shorelines! You'll also learn about shorebird migration and species like Black Oystercatchers, Harlequin Ducks, and Red-necked Phalaropes. Bring a sack lunch and beverage.
Departure is from the Bob Keefer Center-250 S32nd. St. Dress for the weather and walking on uneven ground.
