SMORE Trip: Coastal Mountain Horseback Riding (Teens)

Visit the Circle Bar-B Ranch and enjoy a 1.5-hour trail ride on horseback in the hills of Gaviota. Teens will connect with nature and enjoy panoramic views of the California Coastline and the Channel Islands (weather permitting) Participants can expect moderate physical activity as they walk with and ride on the horse during this excursion. Transportation is provided by City vans. No private vehicles are allowed. Helmets are encouraged. Bring your own helmet or borrow from the ranch. Teens may attend only one time.
NOTE: This is a trip for ages 12-18 in grades 7-12. Each participant may attend once and needs to be registered in order to attend. If there is a 50% chance of rain or higher the tour may be canceled. There is a weight limit of 265 lbs.
The California Department of Parks and Recreation and the City of Santa Maria are offering the Santa Maria Outdoor Recreation Experience (SMORE) as a way to encourage community members to explore the great outdoors. This grant funding provides free environmental education classes for children and adults at the Buena Vista Park Cabin.
