Architectural Engineering (Gr. 5-8)

Bishop Diego School • 4000 La Colina Rd Santa BarbaraCA  93105 Organized by Art Explorers & Terrific Scientific

About this event

Don your hard hats and get hands-on creativity flowing as you learn the complexities of designing structures from buildings to bridges. Investigate how ancient architectural breakthroughs led to the fundamental design elements of today. From walls and arches to post-and-lintel building techniques, use hands-on manipulatives to inspect and duplicate design elements from around the globe. Replicate some of history’s most famous designs, then uncover how different societies made the stylistic, artful, and structural aspects of construction and architecture. With new buildings reaching higher into the sky, architects and engineers are constantly working through questions of structure and style. Campers will develop an understanding of the real-world applications of architecture, gaining an appreciation for the structures they see every day!
