About this event

Activity Organizer: Ellen Zheng and Christina Wang Email: viveellen@gmail.com, christina.why@gmail.com Dates: Thursdays Time: 4:00 PM–5:00 PM Grades: 8–12 Description: The National Economics Challenge (NEC) is the country’s only economics competition of its kind for high school students. It tests both micro and macroeconomic principles as well as knowledge of the world economy with three divisions: Adam Smith: high schoolers who have taken or are taking AP Economics. David Ricardo: other high schoolers and who take exams for the first time. Middle School: middle schoolers. BISV Adam Smith teams advanced to N. California finalist in both 2022 & 2023 and received 2nd place of 2023 North California NEC competition. We will compete in other competitions, including Harvard Pre-Collegiate Economics Challenge (HPEC), and Econ Bowl. Our club’s mission is to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of economics, ranging from basic to advanced levels, while also preparing them for competitions. Students who are not enrolled in the AP economics course can gain a head start in their learning and be fully prepared for it. For those who are taking or have already taken the AP economics course, the club offers an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills by collaborating with team members and developing their presentation skills.
