What's Included

This course is intended to give students a brief primer on major aspects of the classical world: language, myth, philosophy, geography, and politics, because only through understanding the gods and stories of a culture can you come to understand its history and people. You'll learn the Greek alphabet and how to decipher sentences in Latin. You'll read myths about heroes like Hercules and Atalanta. We'll play games where you and your friends lead a Mediterranean nation to war against your neighbors and forge alliances for peace. All the while, we'll be learning about what the Greeks and Romans thought it meant to live the good life, and how living by their example today can fuel the life of the mind. Instructor: Mr. Christian Brady (BISV teacher)
