Zoos offer a lot more career opportunities than you’d think! Perfect for high school and college students, or anyone interested in zoo careers, each session of this program will highlight a different zoo department, team or professional focus. From animal care specialists and veterinarians, to habitat fabricators and operation mangers, here’s your chance meet zoo experts, take a peek behind the scenes and learn more about zoo careers. Get ready to go Beyond the Gate! Each themed program includes an occupational-focused zoo tour, animal encounter, chat with zoo staff, and insider tips for launching a career in the zoo field. Plan to bring: a reusable water bottle & wear close-toed shoes. San Antonio Zoo hosts programs rain or shine! Please bring weather appropriate gear like a rain jacket, coat or hat! “Sit”. “Stay”. “Paw”. Many of the behaviors taught to pets at home are found in the zoo world, too! From archerfish to zebras, and all animals in between, environmental enrichment and operant conditioning are very important aspects of animal wellbeing and everyday zoo life.
