SUMMER EXPLORATION All BC Kindergarten-Grade 7 students can only register for ONE course (Enrichment, Exploration, Fine Arts or Innovation) and must follow school district and provincial health and safety protocols. Summer Exploration Grades 1-2 Students will have opportunities to engage in hands on activities, use technology and participate in outdoor field experiences to support their learning journey. Summer Exploration will actively engage students in a variety of interdisciplinary, inquiry-based projects. These non-credit BC Ministry of Education courses must include Core Competencies, Big Ideas and Curricular Competencies along with Aboriginal perspectives and knowledge. Prerequisite: completion of Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2 At this time, the plans for Summer Exploration is that instruction will be in-person with students attending all classes with health and safety protocols in place. Program details such as the start/end times of courses are subject to change as conditions warrant. In-Person Courses All students are required to attend each session in-person from the start date to the end date. Students are expected to engage with their teachers and classmates during class times. Register early as space is limited.(1) All Kindergarten-Grade 7 students can register for ONE summer course (Enrichment, Exploration, Fine Arts or Innovation).
(2) Create only one customer account per student, using student’s legal first and last name (and usual name, as applicable). If an account was previously created but you are not sure about your log in name and password, please call our office at 604-668-6123.
(3) Students will need their nine-digit Personal Education Number (PEN) to register for Summer Learning. PEN can be obtained from student report card or home school.
(4) NON-RICHMOND SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS
Scan/photograph TWO documents and email to RCE@sd38.bc.ca (a) your parent's birth certificate, permanent resident card, passport, or valid BC Work Permit, and (b) your parent's BC Driver's License or utility bill.
(5) INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (Non-Richmond School District Students)
Scan/photograph your valid BC Study Permit and email to RCE@sd38.bc.ca
(6) ABSENCES
Absences of more than three (3) classes are not permitted. Please email rce@sd38.bc.ca if student will be absent on the first day of summer school. Thereafter, absences can be communicated to the teacher or summer school office.
(7) WITHDRAWALS
Please email rce@sd38.bc.ca to withdraw from a course prior to the first day of class. Once classes have started, please contact your summer school office or teacher.
(8) REFUNDS
A 15% processing fee will be charged for withdrawals before the second class for fee-based courses and/or international students. No refunds will be issued after the start of the second class.
