About this event

Embark on an Earth Day adventure with the Marine Science Institute aboard the R.V. Robert G. Brownlee, our 90-foot research vessel! Dive into the wonders of the San Francisco Bay estuary and discover our interconnectedness with nature. Join forces as we deploy a 16-foot trawl net to reveal the bay's diverse fish, collect sediment samples with a Peterson Mud Grab to uncover hidden invertebrates, and explore live plankton under microscopes! Don't forget to pack your lunch for after the voyage and stay after for some Earth Day fun with live music and dancing on our beachfront. Plus, make sure to explore our aquarium, where you can marvel at our baby leopard sharks, captivating flatfish, and shy rocky shore invertebrates, among other fascinating creatures. It's the perfect way to round off your Earth Day experience. Pre-registration is essential for all attendees to ensure everyone can fully participate and celebrate the planet together. Unfortunately, unregistered guests won't be able to join in the festivities. Also, for the safety of our young explorers, children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event. Parents or guardians, please remember to pre-register yourselves and any additional family members or guests. All explorers must be at least 5 years old, accompanied by a registered adult, and don't forget your closed-toed shoes for this unforgettable experience celebrating our planet!
