“I have a story, strange but true, That I would like to share with you. I set the stage to begin my show, In Athens, Greece, so long ago.” Fairies, mistaken identities, young love, magic potions!--Have a magical taste of Shakespeare through Lois Burdett's adaptation of the Bard's comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which features some original Shakespearean verse as well as more accessible language (we will compare and contrast parts of both), Burdett’s adaptation is meant to open the door to Shakespeare to young people. Drama Club meetings will be run as rehearsals (starting with warm-ups, followed by blocking, running of scenes, vocal work, and choreography). Club members will be expected to memorize their lines and work on their parts outside of rehearsal. During the first few meetings, members will get to know each other and Liz. We will also hold auditions. Some of the roles will require more out of rehearsal work than others. Please come to the club having thought about your ability to commit time to memorization outside of rehearsal. (**Please note: This is a two-session club. Students will need to be available for both sessions of the club in order to participate. The club will culminate in a production of the show for our friends and families in March.
