GFS’s Lunchtime Intermediate Chess Club is geared toward students who have had at least one term of chess instruction. We will learn to use the correct terminology in chess, including “rank,” “file,” “center” and “diagonal,” as well as about forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks and removing the defender. Students will speak about squares using the rank and file coordinate system. They will also learn how to record and time their moves, but will not be required to do so. Please note: Newcomers should contact Ross about making necessary arrangements to be brought up to speed.
