About this event

Description

This activity is closed to further registration.

Pickleball Intermediate Clinic sessions are designed to transform beginning players into intermediate players by improving on specific skills. The student successfully completing the Intermediate Clinic can consistently play longer rallies, return medium-paced shots reliably, make all basic strokes, use shot placement with desired pace with some consistency, are beginning to anticipate opponent’s shots, can play lobs and dinks with limited success, and has improved aggressive/assertive play at the NVZ.

While there are many topics addressed in the Intermediate Clinic, these topics serve as an introduction of these techniques. Coached play at the end of each session will help the student improve effectiveness of those techniques for later use and help toward moving to advanced skill levels.

Level of Instruction: Intermediate – Adults. Candidates for the Intermediate Clinic should be able to engage in multi-shot rallies, play varying types of shots: including volleys, groundstrokes, dinks, drives and lobs.

Skills/Fundamentals Learned: Participants will learn:

Drop shot, shot placement

Volleys/half-volleys

Spin (adding, reading and reacting to spin)

Serves (drop, “standard”, backhand and spin serves).

Specialty shots (Around the Post (ATP), Erne, Misdirecting shots)

Team positioning (communication, responsibilities, stacking, playing the NVZ, responding to the lob)

Playing style/philosophy

At completion of the Intermediate Clinic, the student should be able to work toward a 3.0 rating. Practice and play against opponents of greater skill level will improve the student’s abilities and help to graduate to higher skill ratings.
