Native Botany: Mosses, Lichens & More

Macphail Woods Nature Centre • 269 Macphail Park Rd. OrwellPECanada  C0A 2E0 Organized by Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project

About this event

Small species, such as our native mosses, liverworts and lichens, are often mysterious, overlooked and difficult to identify. Despite their small size, they are an essential component of habitat health, fulfilling a number of critical ecological functions. This half-day course will introduce participants to several common and rare small species and the stories that they tell. This course will take place at the Macphail Woods Nature Centre adjacent to our native plant nursery and arboretum which showcases many of the native species you can find across the province. The course will run until 3 pm and include lots of outdoor hands-on experience looking at these beautiful and sometimes rare species.
