Description

Have you always wanted to explore writing music for film and television? This class looks at the tools and techniques used to score music to picture (or visual media), along with focusing on the emerging composer’s development in the craft of dramatic underscore. Students will get the chance to write music for several film clips, along with weekly lectures and in-class feedback from the instructor.
For students ages 16 and up.

Students must have access to:
  • Computer
  • DAW (digital audio workstation) recording software and know how to use the recording software (DAW)
  • DAW's must be able to import and write to QuickTime or MP4 video files (DAW's that can write to video files: GarageBand, Logic, Cubase, ProTools, Ableton Live, Digital Performer and Reaper. If you don't see your DAW in this list, you can get in touch with the instructor to see if your current DAW will work for this class.)
  • MIDI instrumentation and instrumental samples

Film clips will be provided. The class will meet remotely via ZOOM once a week for an hour and a half (1.5 hour) for 7 weeks, Tuesdays March 19-April 30.
