During our summer camp experiences, educators will immerse themselves alongside students, adopting the perspective of a learner with educator insight. Engaging fully in all activities and skills, they'll also serve as vigilant overseers for student safety. Through these paid externship opportunities, teachers will glean firsthand understanding of the skills, hurdles, and potential paths in diverse STEM fields. Our aim is for educators to re-enter classrooms invigorated and equipped to infuse their teaching with newfound knowledge and enthusiasm, igniting inspiration in their students. Welcome to our Middle School Advanced Robotics Camp, where aspiring engineers will delve deep into the fascinating world of robotics! Throughout the camp, students will uncover the secrets of how robots are designed for specific functions and programmed to carry out tasks. They'll learn about the importance of precise engineering and coding in creating efficient and effective robots. In teams, campers will embark on an exciting journey to build their very own Clawbot. With this robot, they'll face challenges, figuring out how to safely pick up and move objects to designated locations. Through hands-on activities, they'll explore the use of distance sensors to detect obstacles and fine-tune their Clawbot's capabilities. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different claw, arm, and drive designs, gaining valuable insights into the mechanics of robotics. They'll also dive into the world of coding, learning the basics of block coding to program their robots to perform various tasks with precision. To put their skills to the test, campers will engage in a team competition where they'll apply their knowledge and creativity to solve challenges and emerge victorious. And to further inspire their passion for robotics, they'll have the opportunity to visit a local business and witness robots in action in real-world settings.
