Join Steve Chmilar as he shows you how to get the most out of your desire to make some art right now! Join along step by step as Steve demonstrates how to invent a landscape painting from imagination { it's easier than you think } in one Alla Prima session. No previous painting experience is required, however the five-week beginner oil painting course is recommended during or prior to this workshop. Supply List: (Similar to the five-week oil painting supply lists) Canvas or Panel: A primed painting panel that measures 12”x16”. Can be wood, canvas or canvas board. If there are no 12”x16”s available, 11”x14” or 14”x18” can work. Brushes: Steve will demonstrate with as few brushes as possible (likely two flat angle brushes: 1/2” wide and 1” wide). Other brushes or anything that can apply paint may be used. Bring whatever brushes you have or whatever ones you enjoy using. Oil Paints: (from the Level 2 intermediate supply list) Small 37ml tubes are plenty – any brand including student grade or water mixable can work, however artist quality is recommended. The most common student grade (lower quality) brands are Winton, Gamblin’s 1980 series and Opus brand oil paint. Higher quality oil paints are Williamsburg, Old Holland, Windsor & Newton, Gamblin, M.Graham, Michael Harding, etc. The “must have” pigments are: -Titanium White -Raw Umber, -Burnt Umber, -Prussian Blue or Ultramarine Blue -Any Black such as Mars (faster drying which is nice) or Ivory (most commonly found). -One bright primary yellow such as Lemon Yellow, Hansa Yellow light, or Cadmium Yellow light. -One earth yellow such as Yellow Ochre, Transparent Earth Yellow or Raw Sienna. -One bright primary red such as Cadmium Red Light, Napthol Red, Pyrol or Azo red. -Alizarin Crimson. The paints listed above are likely to be used in our class.
