Description The “Tapestry 1” workshop is aimed at beginners who wish to learn the basic language of textile art in the weft-faced weaving. We will review pre-Columbian Andean techniques and learn to warp and weave two textile pieces with varying degrees of complexity. The workshop includes a study manual that will help us understand and contextualize the cultural background of each technique, along with a step-by-step detail of the studied procedures. *All supplies provided Methodology The “Tapestry 1 weaving workshop” consists of 5 sessions of 3 hours each. During each class there will be practical work which will gradually increase in complexity. You will be carefully guided in the process through specific examples. Techniques will be reviewed class by class, including individual and group feedback. Class 1: Introduction to tapestry, understanding the loom and tools. Warping. Class 2: Design of textile piece. Use of color. Class 3: Use of the discontinuous weft. Class 4: Use of linking techniques and Supplementary Weft. Class 5: Finishing and Assembling Our Projects
