What's Included

Week 1: Art & Nature Campers will spend time outside exploring the wetlands and grounds around the Hermitage, learning about the environment and the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. Campers will also learn about artists throughout history who have been inspired by nature, and the countless ways they can incorporate nature into their own artwork. Works of art will be created from clay, found and recyclable objects from around the home, objects gathered from outside, watercolors, and more.

About This Organizer

The Hermitage Museum and Gardens consists of an early 20th century historic house with a world-wide art collection and contemporary exhibition galleries, surrounded by twelve acres of formal gardens and natural woodlands; educational wetlands; and Visual Arts Studio. It is located within minutes of the largest U.S. naval base, the world's busiest coal pier, and a major East Coast container port. The property is bordered on three sides by the Lafayette River, a tributary of the tidal estuary that threads through Hampton Roads.
