Calling all artists! In Art Explorers, led by studio art teacher Sara Nixon, campers will sample a variety of art processes including painting, collage, textiles and sculpture. This camp is the perfect opportunity for young artists to experiment with different mediums and create unique works of art. During their weekly trips, our young artists will draw on-site at creatively inspiring locations that may include the Whitney, the New Museum, the art walk at The High Line, or even local galleries. The culminating activity for Art Explorers will see the 7/8/9s demonstrating their learning by acting as tour guides to their fellow campers in a museum of their own creation! But that's not all! The 7/8/9s also get to enjoy the classic day camp experience, including plenty of outdoor play, fun with friends, and the following: -Swim 2x/week at the McBurney YMCA -Soccer 2x/week led by SocRoc -NEW: STEAM-powered fun 2x/week in the Camp Corlears makerspace with The GIANT Room -Field trip 1x/week aligned with that week's specialty camp Designed for children entering second, third, or fourth grade in the coming school year. Extended care until 5 p.m. is available at a rate of $40/day.
