High School Civics/Personal Finance

Tusculum Church • 477 McMurray Dr NashvilleTN  37211 Organized by Southeast Nashville Homeschool Enrichment

About this event

Civics and Finance are essential. Those who understand money and society rule themselves and rule the world. Those who don't... are ruled by systems without even knowing it. In this class we will investigate the philosophical underpinnings of politics and society and learn to understand how the modern global financial system functions. Students will explore the principles of democracy, government structures, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens in society. Simultaneously, they will delve into essential personal finance topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, credit, and understanding economic systems. Through interactive lessons, real-world case studies, and practical exercises, students will develop the critical thinking skills and knowledge necessary to navigate both the civic and financial landscapes effectively. Empowering students to become informed and engaged citizens while equipping them with the tools to make sound financial decisions, Civics and Personal Finance prepares them for success in their personal and civic lives beyond the classroom. This course is designed to meet the Tennessee standards for.5 high school credits for Personal Finance and .5 credits for Civics/Government toward graduation. 8th graders who would like to earn high school credit may take this class as well. Instructor: John Dvorachek
