THe College of the Florida Keys Swim Around Key West hosts the safest Open Water 12.5 mile beginning at Higgs Beach (1000 Atlantic Blvd). Swimmers will swim toward the Key West Harbor, through Fleming Key Channel, swim around Sigsbee toward Cow Key Bridge, through Cow Key Bridge, pass Smathers Beach, past White Street pier, to finish at Higgs Beach. The Swim Around Key West sponsored by The College of the Florida Keys has been involved with this race since 1986 as well as all aspects of competivie swimming on the island. Safety is foremost with lifeguards and safety boat rescue crews located along the course under the direction of the Power Squadron. No Refunds given due to upfront costs associated with the race.
Event details and schedule
June 7 2024: Mandatory Safety meeting and packet pick up for The College of the Florida Keys Swim Around Key West participants and 10K swimmers to be held at The College of the Florida Keys Pool (5901 College Road, Key West, FL 33040) anytime from 10am to 7pm. There will also be Mermaid shows at 10am, 1pm. Coconut painting is on gong throughout the day.
Participants for the shorter Open Water race (800 yd, 1 mile or 2 mile) may pick up packets on Higgs Beach on June 8 or at The College on June 7.
June 8, 2024: Higgs Beach (1000 Atlantic Blvd., Key West, FL 33040): The College of the Florida Keys Swim Around Key West -Check in begins at 7:30am with race start at 8:30am. Registration/Check in for 800 yard, 1 mile, 2 mile and 10K swim race will begin at 8:00am with race Start at 8:45am.
June 8, 2024: Awards ceremony at Higgs Beach: Open water races (800 yd, 1 mile, 2 mile)-immediately following the 2 mile event. The 10K will be following that event and The Swim Around Key West will be at 2:00pm and 5:00pm.
