Kayak Fishing Camp (ages 8-12 by July 27, 2015) This camp combines two of the favorite activities at camp – kayaking and fishing! With the help from a member of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association (MSSA), the week begins with on-land instruction where campers learn how to tie lures, cast a line and what fish can be found in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. They will then spend a day on the water learning kayaking skills with a certified instructor. The campers will then have two opportunities to be on the water, combining these two skills – and hopefully catch some fish! Friday, the campers get to choose if they want to fish or go crabbing from the boat launch or fish from a kayak. In addition to all the fishing and kayaking, campers will also have the opportunity to do archery, field games, crafts and get wet with water games. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week a chance to make S’mores. The week ends with “Tye-Dye Friday” for a take-home memory of the week at camp.
