Horse Camp (ages 7-14 by August 10, 2015) Would you love to spend the entire week immersed in learning all about horses? The week begins with each camper discovering which horse they will be partnered with and getting assigned to a lesson group based on their incoming skill set. Horsemanship is emphasized by allowing campers to saddle their own horse, helping care for them and learning all about horse health. Riders will be taught safety, comfort in the saddle and control of the horse. More experienced riders will be challenged with pre-jumping skills, some gymnastic exercises and simple lead changes and leg yielding. Each day, each group will have the opportunity to ride in the morning for approximately 30-45 minutes after spending time grooming and tacking up horses. When not participating in a riding lesson, they will learn about barn management and all things horse! In addition to riding and working with the horses, campers will have the opportunity to do archery, kayaking, hiking, field games, crafts and get wet with water games. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week a chance to make S’mores. The week ends with “Tye-Dye Friday” for a take-home memory of the week at camp.
