Burning Beauty: The Magic of Copper Flame Painting (June 21st & 22nd)

Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center • 1017 Antebellum Circle HendersonvilleTN  37075 Organized by Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center

About this event

Instructor: Val Adams In this flame painting and copper class, you’ll explore the fascinating technique of using heat to create vibrant, iridescent patinas on copper surfaces. By carefully applying a torch to the metal, you’ll bring out a spectrum of colors ranging from deep blues and purples to warm golds and reds. This process involves precise control of temperature and flame movement to achieve desired effects. The class will likely cover metal preparation, safety techniques, and ways to seal and preserve your artwork. The result is a stunning, naturally colored copper piece with a one-of-a-kind finish, blending science with artistic expression. The workshop is appropriate for adults, teens, and older children under supervision. The fee is $150 plus a $20 supply fee for the copper. **Please be aware that this class will be held at Val’s studio located at 2853 Rural Hill Road in Nashville. The two-day workshop is 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Space is very limited.
