Description
Beginning Sculpture is an introduction to sculptural concepts and processes. It is a studio (lab) course, focused on hands-on learning, critical thinking, and group dialogue. The class will include hands on demos, group discussions and critiques. The course is built upon designing a basic armature using 16-gauge aluminum sculpture wire. Learning the proportions of a human form and building an air-dried clay figure.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- understand the basic processes used to produce armature for sculpture.
- demonstrate the ability to conceive of and create sculpture using these processes.
- apply the principles of proportions and how they relate to the human form.
- design to understand and evaluate work.
- recognize the (un)limitations of sculpture as a means of artistic expression.
There is a $40 material fee that will be collected at registration.
What is supplied: 1/16"-16-gauge armature wire, 8 pc mini clay tool set(wooden)
What to bring: Ruler, Irwin 6" long-nose pliers.
