Join me for a full two-day workshop designed to inspire and stimulate your artistic journey. Discover the thrill of “pulling” vibrant encaustic monotypes from a heated palette, where you’ll immerse yourself in the joy and immediacy of this unique art form. Through playful experimentation and spontaneous mark making, you’ll tap into your creativity and intuition, yielding astonishing and rewarding results.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll delve into multiple passes to create mesmerizing depth and complexity, while also exploring additional techniques such as stenciling, stamping, and blocking. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or exploring encaustic for the first time, this workshop is tailored to expand your practice and foster adventurous exploration.
You’ll learn:
- Familiarize yourself with opaque and transparent encaustic colors.
- How different papers respond to the wax, heat, and pressure.
- Create multiple prints to refine your compositions and intentions.
- Explore various techniques to embellish your prints, unlocking endless possibilities.
A $25 materials fee will be collected at registration.
What is supplied: hot palette, encaustic medium and colors, printmaking papers, oil sticks, pastels, mark making tools, graphite, charcoal, drawing materials.
What to bring: an apron, favorite mark making tools, scissors, spray water bottle, graphite stick, charcoal, pastels, stencils, silicone tools, newspaper.
