Workshop Series - From the Ground Up: #3 A Natural Dye Garden

5/18 1-3pm at High School Park, 5/19 1-4pm at CCA • HSP, High School and Montgomer Rds Elkins Park, PA 19027 CCA, 439 Ashbourne Rd, Cheltenham, PA 19012 Elkins Park/CheltenhamPA  19012 Organized by Cheltenham Center for the Arts

About this event

Discover a natural dye garden, Design your own, and paint with lake pigments created from Dye. Day 1 of the weekend workshop is a 2 hour collaborative experience at High School Park, thanks to Friends of High School Park, exploring the details of the natural dye garden created and installed last fall. Students will participate in planting additional dye plants and seedlings following the Friends of High School Park dye garden design. A dye plant seedling will be given to each participant to take home. (rainy day alternative - switch Day 1 & 2 / schedule classes at the same time +/- an hour on each day so this works) Day 2 is a hands-on studio experience at CCA. Students will learn about natural dye plants grown in this region and different options for growing a dye garden to suit their home environment. This knowledge will be applied to design a dye garden on paper using watercolor paints created with lake pigments sourced from the natural dye baths used in #1A of the Discover, Design, Dye workshop series. Registration will close on 5/13 at 12pm. Time is needed for the teacher to prep for the workshop. Instructor: Megan Raab Greenholt
