Well, you won't have to rub the sleep out of your eyes or dread any 6 a.m. start times at these rides. Instead, you can roll in well rested at dusk and enjoy a cruise through the cool moonlit night.
RED JAC Bicycle RideJune 11-12, 2016; Elgin, Ill. 1 of 7
Usually, all that awaits you after a long metric century ride is a t-shirt and, if you're lucky, a barbecue dinner. The fun ends, and you get some "free" swag. Pretty cut and dry.
However, at the RED JAC Bicycle Ride, when the ride ends is when the fun starts.
After a 70-mile ride, cyclists camp overnight, jam out to live music and munch on all the food you can eat and beer you can drink. It's not a night ride, per se, but you'll want to set aside 24 hours for this one.
Dunwich Dynamo Return TransportJuly 16-17, 2016; Suffolk, United Kingdom 2 of 7
You can call this endurance ride along the Atlantic a two-wheeled excursion for thrill seekers. With no support or organization and only the light of a full moon to guide you along the Suffolk Coast, this 120-mile ride is undoubtedly a daring adventure.
But don't worry about getting home late, as coaches will ensure you make your way back safe and sound.
Saints to Sinners Bike RelayJuly 29-30, 2016; Salt Lake City 3 of 7
This aptly named ride takes cyclists from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas in teams of five or 10. Unless you're a team full of Chris Froomes, you'll likely want to strap on your bike lights, as you'll likely be riding late into the night.
While this 420-mile relay will require the leg power of every team member, entering Sin City on two wheels is a nice prize after crossing that race tape.
Bike the NightJuly 30, 2016; Woodland Park, Colo. 4 of 7
Not every cyclist likes to kit up at the crack of dawn for a demanding, day-long ride. Some prefer to ride at dusk wearing costumes.
This 9-mile ride is a kid-friendly affair, with competitions for best lit bike and costumes. If you love the nightlife, we'd recommend ditching whatever's on Netflix and sign up for this sweet ride instead.
Night Rider Family Bike RideOct. 1, 2016; Germantown, Tenn. 5 of 7
A police-assisted ride that begins as the sun sets at 7 p.m., this outing takes participants on a six-mile loop around beautiful Germantown. Just be sure to complete the loop in less than one hour, as organizers start spinning the reel of a fun outdoor movie at 8 p.m.
24 Hours of Rocky HillOct. 15-16, 2016; Smithville, Texas 6 of 7
Can you go 24 hours in the saddle of your mountain bike?
You'll find out on this 10-mile singletrack loop.
Beginning at noon and ending at the same time the following day, you--or a team of up to eight people--will try to complete as many laps in a 24-hour period as possible. You can call it a mountain bike velodrome.
Riders can also choose to compete in the six- or 12-hour race, but we're guessing you're here to ride through the night.
