Description
Make your own instrument to play in the drum circle! Geared towards children and their parents/caregivers as an activity to do together. Each playshop will begin with making a small percussion instrument then Michelle will be facilitating a social circle of rhythmic exploration and play. She'll be bringing her colorful palette of drums and percussion instruments and will guide the circle to help get everyone playing together on a common pulse. One of the most satisfying and important components of music making, is understanding – by truly feeling and seeing with others – the rhythm of organized sound. Doing this in a circle with others is significant, helpful and powerful. Experience the joy of community music making while playing with rhythm. Be prepared to relax, smile and have fun!
Instrument build: Maracas and castanets
Children must be accompanied by an adult.*Multimember discount: $25 per adult, $10 per child under 18
