NO CLASS JUNE 19THInstructor: Kyle BiceBring your painting medium of choice and improve your painting skills underinstructor guidance. Students will practice expressive and thoughtful depiction of subjectspainted from life and photo reference. All skill levels welcome.Class objectives: Students will be introduced to or reinforce their understanding of the theoreticalfundamentals of creating artworks in the painting medium of their choice. Students will learn to refinetechnique, while being encouraged to experiment in their medium of choice and analogous mediums, andexpand research methods. Techniques will include indirect (grisaille, glazing, opaque layers) and direct(alla prima) painting methods, and mixed media. Projects will include a still life painting from life and apainting of students' choice of subject matter from photo reference.
Essential materialsCanvases or painting surfaces of artists choiceLarge disposable paper palette tablet or large transportable palette2in palette knifeOil Acrylic Flat or Filbert brushes Firm Bristle width size 1inch to half inch quarter inchuse approximate size when purchasing brushes. You don’t need expensive brushes.Recommended Paint: colors are the same for oils or acrylicsA limited palette of 5 colors does wonders. Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Pyrrolered or alizarin crimson, Burnt Umber. Suggested Additional colors: cad red, yellow ochre, pthalo blue,cobalt or cerulean blue, ivory blackAcrylic Painters:Acrylic Fluid Satin glazing Medium, or painting medium of choiceArtists water bucket or jarsOil Painters8 oz solvent Turpenoid or GamasolRefined linseed oil2 small glass jars with lids baby food or salsa jars will work
