About this event

Description

Want to fish but not sure how to get started? Don’t know which bait and rod to use? Join Howard County Recreation & Parks staff and try your hand at fishing during Nite Bite Fishing events. Fee is per individual and includes entry to Nite Bite Fishing. First hour is basic instruction; instructor will remain on site for assistance the remainder of the night. All fishing equipment and bait provided - bring your own flashlight or lantern. Advanced registration required (register early to grab your spot!). Anglers under 18 years must be accompanied by a paid, participating registered adult.
This is bare-bones instruction to discover fishing. For more in-depth instruction, consider our fishing classes or a Friends & Family Adventure. Custom programs including Friends & Family Adventures available in fishing and a variety of other Adventure activities! Contact Matt Medicus for details or visit www.tinyurl.com/adventurepackages.
Visit www.tinyurl.com/HCRPAdventure for more Adventure & Outdoor opportunities. Scroll down for more important program notes.
Fees are per person. Under 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or adult guardian THAT HAS ALSO REGISTERED AND PAID - this is NOT a drop off program. Detailed info emailed to the participant – Check your registration to be sure you get it! No experience necessary and all equipment and bait provided for use during the program. Anglers may bring their own equipment suitable for freshwater fishing – no fly rods. Class will start promptly at 7pm; late arrivals may not be able to participate.
Maryland law requires anyone age 16 or older to have a Maryland Fishing License. This license must be on the individual anytime the individual is fishing. We encourage adults to purchase a license before attending (freshwater, non-tidal fishing license is currently $20.50/year for MD residents). Licenses are available at many regional sporting goods retailers, or online from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources at: https://compass.dnr.maryland.gov/dnrcompassportal
Looking just to fish after hours at Nite Bite Fishing (not the class)? Visit www.tinyurl.com/HCRPNiteBiteFishing for complete rules and details – ALL Nite Bite anglers must be checked in no later than 7pm.
For more information contact Matt Medicus, 410-313-1769 or mmedicus@howardcountymd.gov or Kristen Coffee, 410-313-1754 or kcoffee@howardcountymd.gov. Consult only this program status line within one hour of the program start time: 410-313-4451, press option 1 THEN option 4.
Know someone else coming for drop-in Nite Bite Fishing? They may be fishing in a different area of the lake. At least one parent/guardian MUST be signed up for this class with anyone under 18.
