* ONE TIME COST COVERS YEAR LONG CLASS (includes tournaments, Monday + Saturday practice, uniforms, food, and more!) *Students can only join this class at the beginning of the year, no new students after 9/22/23. Come and join the FCDS Award Winning Speech & Debate Team! Learn the art of persuasion and argumentation with Coach Zareen and Coach Brodie as we research exciting, worldview-expanding topics in preparation for our tournaments. Our tournaments take place through the Inland Valley Debate League (IVDL) and the Orange County Debate League (OCDL), where we travel by bus to compete against top schools for a chance at first place! This class is designated for students in grades 5th through 8th. Students will be sorted according to ability in the class. We meet weekly on Mondays, with occasional Saturday Practices throughout the year. We have around 10 competitions offered for students throughout the year. This class will teach critical thinking, research, and public speaking skills and prepare students to compete against other schools. This is a year long commitment, as debate skills develop best through practice and hard work. Registration will only happen once, with a one time payment. Students will not be able to join mid year.
