Throughout, students develop problem-solving skills, learn to work with real-world applications, becoming proficient in using graphing calculators and other technology to aid in their studies. By the end, they should have a solid foundation in algebraic concepts & techniques, which will prepare them for more advanced courses in math and science. Here is a summary of topics: Functions: Review the concept of a function, and learn how to analyze and graph different types of functions, including linear, quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Systems of Equations and Inequalities: Solve systems of linear equations & inequalities, both algebraically and graphically. Learn how to solve and graph systems involving other types of equations, such as quadratic, exponential, & logarithmic equations. Polynomials: Factor & solve polynomial equations, including quadratic, cubic, and higher-degree polynomials. Use the Remainder & Factor Theorems to analyze polynomial functions. Rational Functions: Learn how to analyze & graph rational functions, including how to find the domain, vertical & horizontal asymptotes, and intercepts. Conic Sections: Graph and analyze conic sections, including circles, ellipses, hyperbolas, & parabolas. Sequences & Series: Analyze and graph sequences and series, including arithmetic and geometric sequences, as well as finite and infinite series. Trigonometry: Learn the basic trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent) and their inverses, and use them to solve right triangles and other problems. Matrices: Perform operations on matrices, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, & inversion, as well as using matrices to solve systems of equations. Probability & Statistics: Learn the basics, including how to calculate probabilities, analyze data sets, and use statistical measures such as mean, median, and mode.
