Description
The day starts with an extensive guided tour of the original 1860 Oliver Kelley Farmstead in Elk River. Kelley is credited with creating the most advanced farming practices of his era, and changed the way farms are managed and run even today. This is a working farm, with gardens and animals to enjoy! You'll have time to peruse the gift shop before we head off to lunch at Sunset Grill - a cozy lake place restaurant serving a choice of classic country meals. Our final stop is the Original Blue Sun Soda Shoppe where we tour the vintage working 1952 Crown, Cork $ Dixie Model F bottling line, finishing up with a cool, individualized, soda fountain tasting. There will be time to shop the iconic candy and soda store before we head home.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. The Farm has up to 1/4 mile paved and unpaved walking paths to follow during the tour. Accessibility will be accommodated, and golf cart assistance is available as needed. Fee is all inclusive for transportation, admission tickets, meal, soda tour and tasting. Participant is responsible for purchases of non-covered beverages and personal shopping items. Our coach bus leaves from the Chanhassen Recreation Center, 2310 Coulter Blvd, Chanhassen. Lunch choices upon registration include: 1. Homestyle meatloaf on toasted ciabatta topped with mashed potatoes, gravy, and fried onion strings, and side of vegetables. 2. House beer battered Cod, with coleslaw and French fries. 3. Cobb Salad with grilled chicken, iceberg lettuce, bleu cheese, diced egg, red onion, diced tomatoes, avocado, dressing choice. 4. Chicken Pot Pie with creamy chicken and vegetables under a toasted flaky topping and side of cheesy hashbrowns.Location
