Description
Swimmer 5 is an advanced level for participants 6 years or older although, Vecova recommends participants being at least 8 years of age to be successful in this level as the physical requirements are more demanding. Swimmers will be challenged with a whole new set of skills; shallow dives, tuck jumps (cannonball entries), eggbeater kick, and backwards somersaults (in water). Technique and endurance will also receive greater focus as swimmers will need to complete longer distance swims and interval training sessions for all their strokes.
Due to the nature and difficulty of Swim For Life lessons, it is very common for swimmers to do the same level multiple times before moving to the next level. Please take this into consideration if you are registering for multiple classes.Prerequisites (at least 1 of the following):-Red Cross Swim Kids 6 (Complete)
-Red Cross Swim Kids 7 (Complete OR Incomplete)
-Swim For Life Swimmer 4 (Complete)
-Swim For Life Swimmer 5 (Incomplete)
Prior to attending this swimming level, the participant should be able to:
-Perform a proper standing dive into deep water
-Tread water for at least 60 seconds with no assistance from an instructor or floatation device.
-Swim fully underwater for 5m.
-Roll into water, tread water for 60 seconds and swim 50m without stopping.
-Perform proper breaststroke for 15m.
-Perform proper front crawl and back crawl for 25m each.
-8+ years of age is recommended
*For safety reasons, Vecova kindly asks that caregivers register participants into the correct swim level based on their swimming skills. If the participant cannot show the instructor the above skills on the first day of classes, they may be removed from the lesson and be requested to register in Swimmer 4 or lower for the next session.
CANCELLATIONS
Vecova strives to give 5-7 days prior to the start of a program, notice of cancellation. Full refunds will be given or the opportunity to transfer to another program (space permitting).
TRANSFERS
All program transfers are subject to availability and a transaction fee.
WITHDRAWALS
All withdrawals must be made a minimum of 7 days prior to the start of a program. Prior to 7 days a credit minus a transaction fee of $2.00 per program will be placed on your Vecova account for future use. Refund requests made prior to 7 days to program start date will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee. Refunds will not be given if cancelled within 7 days of program start date or after the program has started.
PHOTOGRAPHY
To protect everyone's privacy, cell phones, cameras and other forms of communication devices are not permitted in the changerooms.
Photos may be taken of your children while in a program. A Vecova employee has the right to view the photo to ensure the privacy of others.
